FIREWORKS DISPLAY

NEXT MONDAY NIGHT Next Monday evening the Imperial Fireworks Display Company will give a large exhibition at Alexandra Park. Several set pieces will form the major portion of the display. Some of these are of mechanical construction, being propelled by powerful •wheels in fire. The many items in the programme include a quaint Egyptian emblem which consists of several curious lines, among which are some skilfully constructed peacock gerbs. Another new moving set is the chromatrope, and a popular inclusion is the representation of a waterfall. The aerial pieces will alternate between the firing of the Prince of Wales feathers, horizontal fountains, bouquets of gerbs, and Roman candles, and the large Rainbow Wheel. Flashing rockets and showers of golden rain will be seen together with the explosion of aerial shells and the release of vari-coloured stars. It is mentioned that the set pieces, being erected on frames, are not visible outside the course. Although rockets can be seen from a considerable distance, yet a view of the various designs on framework and their movements can only be obtained by entering the course.

A musical programme will be supplied by the Onehunga Municipal Band.
