AMERICAN BIPLANE

LANDED IN SYDNEY FOR TAXI WORK The Eaglerock, an American allmetal biplane, the first of its kind in the Commonwealth, arrived in Sydney by the Port Pirie and was taken to the Mascot Airdrome. The Eaglerock is the first of a series of ‘planes to be imported by Air Travel. Ltd., and will be piloted by Mr. Rupert King, an instructor with the Australian Aero Club in Sydney. Mr. King explained that the new ’plane would be used for aerial survey work in New South Wales, as well as for photography and taxi work. It is yet to be unpacked and assembled, and it is expected that it will be ready for flight by the end of this week.

Equipped with a 90 h p. water-cooled Curtiss engine, the Eaglerock will have a cruising speed of about 85 miles an hour, and a maximum speed of over 100 miles an hour. It will accommodate two passengers in addition to the pilot.
