GOVERNOR’S DAUGHTER TO VISIT AUCKLAND
MISS ELAINE DE CHAIR Auckland is likely to prove popular with Australian visitors early in the New Year. Following the announcement of the visit by the State Premier of New South Wales (Mr. Bavin) come* the information that Miss Elaine de Chair, the only daughter of the Governor of New South Wales, Sir Dudley de Chair, will soon arrive In Auckland. It Is the intention of Miss de Chair fo visit her brother, Sub-Lieut, de Chair, who is serving in H.M.S. Laburnum, now at Auckland. Miss de Chair ■will accompany Dame Clarissa Reid, an old English friend of ter mother’s, who has been a guest at Government House, Sydney. Sub-Lieut, de Chair anticipates leaving Auckland with his ship early in January, so after his sister has said pod-bye to him. Miss de Chair and Dame Clarissa will see something of lie North Island before returning to Australia. The State Premier is due in Auckland about the middle of January. He is an ex-pupil of the Auckland Grammar School. The Rev. T. Rainsford Bavin, his father, was a well-known Methodist minister In different parts of the Dominion before he finally settled to New South Wales.
