NOT PRACTICABLE

SMUGGLING BY AIRPLANE By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. CANBERRA, To-day. No information has been received by the Minister of Home Territories, the Hon. C. W. C. Marr, regarding the mysterious airplanes on the West Australian coast. The Comptroller-General of Customs stated that he did not regard as serious the suggestion that they were engaged in smuggling opium. He pointed out that the necessity of having a mother-ship of at least 6,000 tons on the coast would make the cost prohibitive, while an airplane between Broome and the islands di the East Indies seemed equally impracticable. —A. and N.Z.
