HIGH WAGES ASKED
AUSTRALIAN BUILDERS £l6 10 FOR DANGEROUS WORK By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. SYDNEY, To-day. In the log served upon the employers by the Builders’ and Labourers’ Federation, £ll for a 44hour week is asked for labourers engaged in the demolition of buildings. This is irrespective of fares to and from the job. An extra 2s 6d an hour, or a total of £l6 10s a week, is demanded where the men are engaged in burntout or dangerous buildings. For unloading cement, lime, and charcoal, £8 16s is asked, plus fares. Double overtime is requested for urgent repair and breakdown jobs, and treble overtime for Sunday work. It is also requested that gloves he provided for certain classes ef work. —A. and N.Z.
