BOMB OUTRAGES

BUENOS AYRES BANKS PEOPLE INJURED AMERICAN INSTITUTIONS By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. BEDNOS AYRES, Sunday. Bombs were exploded in two American bank buildings, the National City Bank and the First National Bank of Boston. The former explosion occurred near the manager’s office. Seven girls were injured and considerable damage was done to both banks, but no deaths are reported.

The explosions occurred shortly before noon when the banks were thronged with people. All the windows of the National City Bank were blown out, and the wind-shields of a passing motor-car were shattered. Strong cordons of police were placed around the buildings while firemen made a search. Hundreds of people immediately formed an impromptu parade through the streets, shouting, “Death to all Communists! Dong live the United States! Long live the Argentine!” It has been learned that the manager of the National City Bank was cut in the head by flying glass. He is believed to be the only American who was hurt. Great confusion followed the explosion in this bank. There were miraculous escapes in the crowded room. The uninjured people were surrounded by the demolished wood work, and the shattered glass from a huge skylight covered the floor. SCENES OF CONFUSION One theory is that the bomb was thrown through the skylight, but no one saw the bomb. Smoke and dust poured from the building for 26 minutes after the explosion. The confusion was enhanced by the screams of the women employees. Both banks have been heavily guarded since the agitation over the Italian murderers, Sacco and Vanzetti, which was most violent in Buenos Ayres. The police have taken charge of both buildings, and no one is allowed to leave or enter without permission.
