SANTA CLAUS VISITS HOMES OF EX-SOLDIERS
CHRISTMAS FOR CHILDREN Clad in red robes and long white beards, five Santa Clauses from the Auckland Returned Soldiers* Association did the rounds of 26 homes of e;servicemen on Christmas morning and left very acceptable traces of their visits. Where there were children, and there were 80 of them on the route, presents were left, and everywhere Christmas pudding and eats suitable for the occasion. The five cars covered a very extensive territory from Penrose to Point Chevalier and from New Lynn to North Shore. Often in the homet> visited the father, as a result of war service, was spending his Christmas in hospital, so that Father Christmas’s visit was very timely and very much appreciated. And the joy of the gift was in many cases enhanced by the personal appearance of the donor, his long white beard draping the end of the beds of the goggle-eyed, overjoyed tots.
