In his annual report, the director of the sugar experimental stations says that in the last three years over £5,000,000 has been received in Australia from the export of sugar, and _£ 6,000,000 has bedn paid every year in wages. The estimated yield of raw sugar in Queensland for the 1927 season was 483,000 tons.—A. and N.Z. AUSTRALIAN WOOL CLIP By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright SYDNEY, Friday. The wool export season is now at its peak and nearly half of the Australian clip has been shipped. Statistics show that 947,597 bales, valued at £28,500,000 have been lifted from Australian ports for Britain and the Continent since August. Although the foreign shipping companies have secured most of the largest individual consignments, the British lines have lifted the greater part of the clip. To date, 12 of the British lines have secured 581,000 bales, worth nearly £14,000,000, while vessels of six foreign companies have taken 36 6,000 bales worth £8,000,000. TUAKAU SALE Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held the monthly Tuakau sale yesterday, when, the advertised number of sheep came forward and 454 head of cattle. Local and Auckland buyers were most conspicuous by their absence, but there was a good attendance of Waikato buyers. A most satisfactory sale is reported. Two-tooth ewes at 26s Id, fat w'ethers, 25s 3d; fresh condition, four-tooth wethers, 235, 23s 3d to 24s 3d; two and four-tooth wethers, 21s 9d. 22s to 22s 8d: a line of four-year P.A. bullocks, account Messrs. Cameron and Macaulay, realised. 36 at £8 17s and 20 at £8 15s: account same vendors, 26 Hereford bullocks, £8 10s; a line of very fresh condition, three and four-year Hereford and S.H. bullocks, account Mr. K. Caldwell, averaged £8 14s; three-year S.H. steers, fresh condition, £7 6s, £7 8s to £7 15s; three-year S.H. steers in store condition, £6 12s: IS months S.H. steers. £4 16s, £4 19s; IS months S.H. steers in low condition, £4 ss; 18 months Holstein steers, £3 10s.
