THE MOVIE CAPITAL HOLLYWOOD FIGURES Eighty-two per cent. of the world’s qeotion pictures are produced at Hollywood. * COLONY of 42,546 specialists makes if up t i,e group of workers engaged. These statisticts are revealed in a reIcent analysis made by the Paramount | studio. i The 42.546 workers represent every branch of the industry. In office work 'alone 13,550 are engaged in the nine (major and the 45 minor studios producing pictures in Southern California. There are approximately 27,000 extra workers in Hollywood and Los Angeles, j 16,500 of these being registered at the I central Casting Bureau, maintained by the Producers' Association of America, tlie Will Hays group of studios. In addition to the contract players on the studio pay-rolls and to the extras, both free lance and registered, there are approximately 3,000 freelance featured and “bit" players. The kirger studios are those of Paramount, First National, Warner Bros., Producers' Distributors Corporation, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Fox. Universal, United Artists and Film Booking Offices , of America. i
