Gladys Moncrieff Comes Home Again
Gladys Moncrieff is returning to Australia in April—this time under engagement to the Fullers. This announcement was made recently by Sir Benjamin Fuller. “The famous musical comedy star ” he explains , “was signed up for our firm in-New York by my brother, John, and Mr. Ernest C. Rolls. “It was no easy matter to get her. In Nero York —Miss Moncrieff is still there —she was considering some very tempting American offers. “But she was very keen on being seen in Australia in the title role of ‘Rio Rita / the great musical comedy hit secured by us for this country. “So that did it—together with, the fact that she will be receiving the highest salary ever paid to an Australian-born actress. “ ‘Rio Rita’ will be the attraction with which Sir Alfred Butt will open his new London theatre in March next. “Sydney will see the play on a sumptuous scale about the middle of the year.”
