AUCKLAND SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS
MEETING IN NEW YEAR The. Auckland Centre of the N.Z.A.S.A. will conduct the Auckland championships at the Tepid Baths on Wednesday and Thursday, January 4 and 5. A fine programme has been drawn up lor each night. The star event on the first night will be the 100yds championship. The probable starters will be J. Envvright, H. C. Watson, L. Fairgray, G. Bridson, F. Farrell and J. Meikle. On the second night the ladies’ 100yds championship will take place, and with the following taking part a great race should take place: Misses E. Stockley (holder), D. Magee, J. Bell, P. Page and E. Champion. The other championship events on the programme will include events for senior, intermediates and juniors, while there are handicap events for those swimmers not quite up to championship class. It is to be hoped that the public will attend both carnivals in large numbers, as the Auckland Centre is incurring a very heavy expense in sending a championship team to Dunedin to compete at the New Zealand championships.
Nominations for all events will close on Saturday, December 31, with Mr. M. Champion, Tepid Baths, or the hon. secretary, care of Fire Brigade Station, Mt. Eden.
