CRY FOR ECONOMY

PROBLEM JN BRITAIN APPEAL TO GOVERNMENT By Cable. —Press Association . — Copyright. LONDON, Thursday. An important group of Conservative members of the House of Commons has been conducting a long correspondence with the Government on the subject of economy, and is stated to be fully satisfied with the result. In the concluding letter the Prime Minister said he was making very substantial cuts in expenditure in 1928. The Parliamentary correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says the group is now convinced that the Government recognises the desire of its supporters to see a policy of retrenchment pursued in what will be the last full year of the present Parliament. —A. and N.Z.
