EMPIRE
STRONG PROGRAMME “On Ze Boulevard,*’ a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture, which will be shown at the Empire Theatre to-night, is a farcical French comedy. The starring honours are shared by Lew Cody and Hence Adoree, with Roy DArcy and Dorothy Sebastian in strong support. Lew Cody, as Gaston Pasqual, waiter in a boulevard cafe, wins
a million francs in the Grand Lottery, and this starts a whirl of merriment and adventure. Gaston refuses to take the advice of his fiancee, the cafe cashier, to invest his winnings in a business of their own, but becomes
a tempting morsel for two elegant Parisian crooks. Cody cuts a snappy figure in his fashionable morning clothes and high grey hat, and his whimsical humour has never been used to better advantage. Renee Adoreo is if anything more delightful than ever, perhaps because this sparkling role suits her French temperament exactly. No one more ciiic and adorable than Musette, the practical little cafe cashier, could be imagined. _ . • Foot-loose •'Widows, starring Louise Fazenda, will also be shown to-night.
