THAMES FIRE BRIGADE
ANNUAL SOCIAL (nom Our Own Correspondent) THAMES, To-day. Last evening the Thames Fire Br«gade held their final social gathering tor the year 1927. That the services of the brigade are recognised by the people of Thames was quite evident by the presence of a large number of citizens. The °a Qroa Fire Brigade sent a contingent of bngadesmen to the function Deputy-Superintendent Pratt, who presided, welcomed the gathering, and said it was gratifying to the brigade to know that the public appreciated the work the brigade was doing During the evening the secretary. Mi. P. <_,. Jenkins, stated that shortly the brigade would make a call on the public for the purpose of raising funds for a new motor-reel. They were very fortunate in having a sympathetic borough council, who did what it could to make things run smoothly. The Mayor, Mr. Bongard, said he could assure the members of the brigade that the council fully recognised the good work the brigade was doing, and congratulated the firemen During the evening songs, recitations, and musical items were rendered by Messrs. W. Johnson, J. Hardman, C. Gilbert, H. A. Thomson, J. M. Tredaway, J. Davidson, W. Thompson, and J. Kerby.
The accompaniments were played by Messrs. J. Buchan and W. J. Scrimgour.
