_ BRITAIN*S AGRICULTURE. The House of Commons rejected, by 258 votes to 107, the Liberal motion deploring • the Government’s failure to restore Britain’s agricultural position. —A and N.Z, N.S.W. GOLD FIND.—Two prospectors recently discovered a gold-bearing lode near Bombala, on the South Coast. A sample of ore, which was taken, yielded 40 ounces to the ton. —A. and N.Z. SHIPS FOR FRENCH NAVY. —The Chamber of Deputies states that between July 1, 1927, and June 30, 1928, one cruiser, six destroyers, five firstclass submarines, a submarine minelayer, and two scouts will be laid down in continuation of the naval programme of France.—A. and N.Z. BRITISH UNEMPLOYED. The Ministry of Labour has announced that on December 12 the number of unemployed in Britain was 1,125,000. This "as 24.448 less than the week before and 285,178 less than a year ago.— British Official Wireless. TRIBUTE TO MINISTER. A cheque for £3,237, the amount subscribed as a testimonial for the former Minister of Lands in the Lang Ministry, Mr. P. F. Loughlin, who was defeated at the recent election, has been banded to Mr. Loughlin.—A. and N.Z. RUSSIAN MONARCHISTS. The official Soviet agency alleges that a monarchist organisation named the “artisan Detachment of Nicolas NicoJarvitch” (the name of the late Czar), bas been discovered at Odessa. It is stated that the members are guilty of ctTortetic attacks on Soviet officials, nd also of holding up trains and blowup railway lines. All the? members the organisation have been arrested, and N.Z.-Sun.
