AUSTRALIAN RETURNS N.Z. BENEFITS BY £230,000 By Cable.—-Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 10.10 a.m. CANBERRA. To-day. The Minister of Customs, the Hon. H. E. Pratten, in a statement, shows that, excluding the benefits under the new tariff schedule, the estimated total benefits, under Empire preference, to Britain for the financial year 1925-26 were £7,981,000. In the same year. New Zealand benefited to the amount of £230,000. The advantage to Canada for the year ended September 30, 1927, was £235,000. The value of concessions given to Britain under the new schedule was estimated to be ultimately £1,500,000 annually. It is estimated that the total benefit to Australia was, from Britain £571,000 in 1925; from Canada, £182,000 in 1927; from New Zealand, £217,000 in 1926.—A. and N.Z.
