THE BOOKLOVER’S CORNER

ATTRACTIVE COMBINATION A combined couch and shelves turns this alcove into a comfortable book-corner that is decorative and compact at the same time. The deep, soft couch covered in ribbed grey silk is a mute invitation to

lettered ease. Its sides are built in graduated tiers to take books or bric-a-brac, and this architectural motive is repeated in the arrangement of shelves to right and left of the alcove above it. Books are accommodated in the straight shelves at the back. Rose and black lacquer is the striking decor chosen for the woodwork. Inspired by the sea-urchin is the thick round cushion in which curved panels of plain rose silk alternate with ribbed silk of the same shade. The round centre of black fur completes the illusion. The contrasting cushion is also round, but of the new ultra-flat shape, having a geometrical design in several shades of deerskin.

Housework finished at 9.15 a.m.! The wonderful possibility becomes a pleasant reality when you own an efficient vacuum cleaner. Perhaps such an early hour suggests super-efficiency in the cleaner you must buy, but ask your friends; see them for yourself and you will quickly be convinced of their worth.
