Peterwah Makes Dash for Freedom

TROTTER’S ESCAPADE FOUND AFTER ALL-NIGHT SEARCH

Peterwah, the well-known trotting horse, gave his owner, Mr. R. C. Fisken, an anxious time last night. The Fisken team is domiciled at the stables of Mr. A. Sheppard, Epsom, and about nine o'clock last evening, finding it possible to obtain his freedom, the Etawah stallion trotted off from the stall and quickly disappeared. He made his escape while an admirer was observing other features of the place, but Peterwah had too much pace for his pursuers. Volunteers to form a search party were soon forthcoming and a long midnight trail commenced without success. Motor-cars and motor-cycles \v commissioned and the search extended in all directions, but proved futile. Early this morning activities wore renewed and at 6 o’clock Messrs. Fisken and Sheppard discovered the American-bred aristocrat grazing on ;• vacant section, in company with thre f mares and a gelding, near the Morningside Station.

Except for a few scratches. Pot appeared none the worse for 1. s esca pade. and the handsome chestn if. who claims engagements in both th- Auckland and Rowe Cups on Tu-st .v will be a visitor to Alexandn to-morrow.
