Reed. 1 p.m. SAN FRANCISCO, Tues. fpHE British motor-vessel Doris Crane, bound from Honolulu to San Francisco, is afire and is probably facing

destruction, according to a wireless from the liner Niagara, which rescued 12 _of the crew, 340 miles north of Honolulu.

One seaman perished in the flames. The Doris Crane was carrying copra. The owners are Whiteman and Crane. Captain H. C. Davidson was in command.—A. and N.Z.
