A SATISFACTORY POSITION An increase in capital to the extent of £1,423,440, part of which was on account of the Western Australian Bank and part new issue, is shown in the detailed report of the Bank of New South Wales. The reserve fund has increased by £909,240; £350,000 from profit, and £560,000 from the Western Australian Bank. Capital now stands at £7,423,440, and reserve fund at £5,650,000, a total of £13,073,440, which, with the reserve liability of shareholders (£7,423,440), makes a grand total of £20,496,880. Profit is £127,000 more than 12 months ago, which, of course, includes the profit of the new business in Western Australia, and in addition to the usual dividend of 10 per cent., a bonus of 10s a share is announced.
