SCHOOLBOY ALL-ROUNDER
17 P. REANEY, the captain * of the Napier Boys] High School cricket team, who is now playing Auckland Grammar School for the Heathcote Williams Shield, is a great schoolboy athlete. Only 19 years of age, he is a member of the Hawke’s Bay cricket representative team, and in a match with Mr. E. C. Beale’s touring Aucklanders in Napier last January, he compiled 115 runs. Earlier this year he notched 105 for Hawke’s Bay against Wairoa in a Hawke Cup elimination round game, when Hawke’s Bay ran up a mammoth score of 591. Over six feet in height and 14 stone in weight, Reaney is also a good Rugby forward, and is a member of the Hawke’s Bay junior representative team. He is quite above the average as a sprinter, and runs the 100 yards in 11sec. from scratch. This year he won the Ashcroft Cup at the High School, this trophy being an award for all-round excellence in scholarship, athletics and school activities. Reaney is head prefect of the school and a lieutenant in the cadet force.
