DARGAVILLE FIXTURE

JANUARY 12 AND 14 The Dargaville Racing Club will hold its summer meeting on January 12 and 14, and as the club has always enjoyed a successful patronage, the forthcoming fixture should be up to the usual high standard. - Good stakes are offered for the two days’ racing. The Dargaville Cup will be the principal race on the opening day, and is sure to attract a nice field. This event is decided over one and a-quarter miles, and the stake money is £2OO. Owners will also notice the Kaihu Hurdles, of £l2O, and the Avoca Handicap of £IOO. The same horses will probably contest similarly valued races on the second day, so Interesting racing should be "witnessed. Should sufficient nominations be received from Auckland owners, it is the intention of the club to arrange a special train to convey horses to within a reasonable distance of the course. In addition to the race meeting, the official opening of the Waipoua Forest Road by the Prime Minister on the off day (Friday) will also afford .interest to the large gathering. An opportunity on the same day will also be given to visit the famed Trounson Kauri Park and the West Coast Beach, ail of which will afford pleasure to the racegoers.

Excursion fares on the railway on January 11, and special steamer fares from January 11 till January 15, will be available.
