Mr. R. C. liorton returned by the Aorangi yesterday after a tour abroad. gieSBTS. J. AT. Cameron and L. Adams arrived from the South by the Limited this morning. Mr. William J. Marr and Mrs. Marr, of* Sydney, arrived this morning and w ill stay with Mrs. Grace, of Mount Albert. Mr Horace Macartney, a well-known alpine climber, arrived by the Aorangi yesterday. Ho intends to climb Mount Cook. Mr. G. L. Scott, an Australian racehorse owner arrived by the Aorangi from Sydney yesterday. He is on a holiday tour. Professor Egerton, of Auckland University College, and Mrs. .Egerton, who have been abroad, arrived back by the Maunganui this morning. Professor H. H. Corbin. Professor of Forestry, Auckland University, returned this morning by the Maunganui from Australia. Mr. F. D. Burrows, managing director of Cooper and Co., Ltd., Kobe, japan, arrived by the Maunganui this morning on a visit to New Zealand. Mr. Walter Monk, of the staff of J. C Williamson, Ltd., will leave for the South shortly to arrange for the Southern tour of “Rose Marie.’* Mr. F. Tritton, of Brisbane, arrived in Auckland from Sydney yesterday, acompanied by his wife and son. He intends to make an extensive tour through New Zealand. Mr. N. T. Cummins, of the Malay States, who was a resident of Auckland before he took up planting in the East, returned on a visit by the Aorangi yesterday.
Captain J. D. Gray, one of the musters of the Howard Smith Australian coastal fleet, arrived from Sydney tills morning by the Maunganui to spend a holiday in New Zealand. Messrs. Leonard Dare and Lionel Dare, two well-known Sydney solicitors, arrived by the Maunganui this morning. They will spend a holiday in the Dominion fishing and shooting. Mr. H. A. Parker, the former Australian and New Zealand tennis champion, arrived by the Aorangi yesterday, and will tour the Dominion before sailing for England. Mr. Richard Durant Trotter has been elected a director of the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd. Mr. Trotter is chairman of directors of the Provincial Bank of Ireland, Ltd., and a director of the National Provident Bank, Ltd. Mr. J. Reedy, manager of a branch of the Bank of Australasia in New South Wales, and Mrs. Reedy arrived in Auckland this morning. Mr. Reedy was formerly manager of branches of the bank in New Zealand, and h* has been away for two years.
The Rev. Joseph W. Kemp, of the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle, left by train for Wellington last evening on his way to Australia, where he is to attend the Upway Christian Conference.
