Extremely cold weather, accompanied by heavy falls of snow, is being experienced in Europe. It i» reported that deaths have occurred in France owing to the aeverity of the conditions. Winter sports are being enjoyed throughout England. Tobogganing and ski-lng are taking place in Yorkshire and Derbyshire, and enthusiasts are skating in all other districts, including London, where the water of the lakes in the parks is thickly covered with ice, as also are the fountains in Trafalgar Square. Intermittent clear skies make ideal Christmas weather. Heavy falls of snow continue over the whole coun•ty, as far west as Dorsetshire, and road traffic is hindered. ROME MANTLED IN SNOW Similarly severe weather is being jjtperlenced throughout Europe.
