KUROW FOR NEWCASTLE.-—The local office of the Union Company advises that the collier Kurow leaves Auckland on Friday for Newcastle, where she will probably load again for Auckland.

YOSERIC FOR NEW ZEALAND. —Advice has been received that the tramp steamer Yoseric has been fixed to load Australian hardwood at Bunbury about the middle of January for New Zealand ports.

AORANGI SAILING.—In continuation of her voyage from Sydney the Union Company's R.M.M.S. Aorangi is nowscheduled to leave Auckland at 6 o'clock this evening for Suva, Honolulu, Victoria and Vancouver.

WAIHEMO CLEARS SAMARANG.— Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the cargo steamer Waihemo sailed From Samarang last Saturday with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin. The vessel is due here on January 7.

MARAMA AT WELLlNGTON.—Telegraphic advice received by the local office of the Union Company states that the passenger steamer Marama arrived at Wellington at 9 o’clock this morning from Sydney and leaves at 3 p.m. on Friday on her return trip to Sydney.

VERONICA AND LABURNUM. H.M.S. Veronica left Auckland yesterday morning for Point Fitzroy, Great Barrier, to carry out gunnery exercises. On Thursday in company with H.M.S. Laburnum she will carry out firing practice in the Hauraki Gulf, and return to Auckland the same day. H.M.S. Laburnum is due back at Auckland on Friday.

SUSSEX LEAVES SINGAPORE.—CabIe advice received by the local office of the Union Company states that the Federal steamer Sussex sailed from Singapore yesterday for Auckland, where she is due on January 9. ULIMAROA AT SYDNEY. —Cable advice received by the local office of Huddart Parker and Company states that the passenger steamer Ulimaroa arrived at Sydney this morning from 'Wellington and leaves at noon on Friday for Auckland, where she is due next Tuesday morning. The Ulimaroa will be the only passenger steamer arriving in New- Zealand next week from Sydney. RIMUTAKA AT WELLINGTON. —Last evening the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Rimutaka arrived at Wellington from London and Southampton. This morning the vessel was berthed to land her passengers and mails, and tonight she proceeds to Port Chalmers, Lyttelton and Napier to discharge her cargo. Passengers for Auckland leave Wellington by the 2 p.m. express to-day and arrive here to-mororw morning. Luggage is coming forward by the Kamo, which sails from Wellington on Friday for Auckland.

SALE OF THE ESSEX.—Advices have befn received to the effect that the wellknown Federal Steam Navigation Company’s steamer Essex, which has been a regular trader between the United Kingdom and New- Zealand and Australian ports for a considerable number of years, has been sold to Belgian buyers. the price reported being about £-0,000. The Essex is rather an old vessel, having been built In 1902 at Clydebank, Scotland, by J. Brown and Co. She is a screw steamer of 7,219 tons gross, a d 4,401 tons net.
