R. BURTON CAPTAINS SUBURBAN REPS.
AUCKLAND V. CHRISTCHURCH THE suburban cricket represen- [ tative team will be captained by Mr. R. H. Burton in the Walker Shield competitions at Wellington. Mr. E. Stallworthy will act as manager. Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland will be the competing associations, Dunedin not having entered a team. Auckland has drawn Christchurch in the match to be played on December 26 and 27. Rather a brilliant idea originating with the Wellington Association of playing a Dominion Suburban Association side against a Wellington Cricket Association eleven seems destined to be scotched. It was mentioned at the meeting of the Auckland Suburban Management Committee last evening most favourable remarks being made. But unfortunately the promoters have reckoned without the New Zealand Suburban Cricket Council which has not been approached and which has not sanctioned the match. The secretary of the council, Mr. E. Stallwortliy, has written asking the Wellington Association that the match be withdrawn and that it be only an unofficial affair.
