SIGNS OF LIFE
TAPPING FROM INSIDE By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. NEW YORK, Sunday. / CAPTAIN BRUME, commanding the force engaged in salvaging the S 4, reported to the Navy Department that signs of life were heard inside the vessel. He said there were responses to a diver tapping on the torpedo room. A hole eight feet wide was found on the starboard side of the battery room. The men are believed to be living, except those in the battery room, where they would have died in the crash. Tangled wires prevent tapping at the control-room or other compartments.—A. and N.Z.
