LIMITED LATE
SLIP AT MANGAWEKA TRAIN HELD FOR 1| HOURS A small slip on the line at Manga - weka delayed the Limited this morning and disorganised the traffic both north and south. The Limited did not arrive in Auckland until 11 o’clock this morning, an hour and a half behind her schedule time. Other trains were similarly delayed, but the slip was soon cleared. Until this morning the Daylight Limited has been rather neglected, but to-day she left for the South with very few empty seats. All incoming trains were crowded to-day and those for Rotorua and Whangarei carried capacity loads. There were heavy bookings for the South last evening and all trains are heavily booked for this evening.
Chimney Fire At Devonport. —Fire in a chimney of a house in Victoria Hoad, Devonport, occupied by Mr. Rose, was extinguished by the fire brigade this morning. No damage was done.
