The forecast for other crops is: Flax, 2.160,000 tons; oats, 940,000 tons; barley, 370,000 tons. —A. and N.Z.-Sun. MINING NEWS MOANATAIARI. —The manager reports: During the week all the work in the mine has been confined to the sinking on footwall leader. The winze on footwall leader has been sunk 10 feet. The reef at the starting of th£ winze was 12 Inches wide, but in going down is improving The reef at present in the bottom averages 15 inches wide and is a nice body carrying nice mineral blend and silica. During the week, from here, I selected 71b of picked stone and 601 b of stone showing colours and dabs of coarse gold. The I cannot sink any further without the pump, as we are down below the well hole where the pump is in No. 1 winze. I have started the battery and next week will be crushing the ore broken out of the footwall leader. LUCKY SHOT.—The manager reports: the drive on the main reef going northeast has been advanced 4ft. The reef is heavily mineralised and the quartz broken out shows colours of gold. The hanging wall portion of the lode is 3ft in width; the footwall portion, being ift wide, has now stranghtened up and is running along with main reef. The winze on the junction of main reef and dropper has been sunk 4ft, making a total depth of 27ft. The quartz broken continues to show gold very freely. A round of holes were fixed in the footwall exposing several small leaders showing strong colours and dabs of gold. New Zealand Frozen Meat in London.— The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Coy., Ltd., report receipt of the following cable from their London house:— Frozen Meat: Lamb market steady. Mutton market firm, with an upward tendency.
