ABBATOIR DISPUTE OTHER CLAUSES SETTLED Having conferred in accordance with the direction of the Arbitration Court yesterday, the parties to the Abattoir Employees’ dispute stated this morning that they had agreed on all clauses except the general question of wages. After further evidence had been given the Court announced that it would give its decision later. Among the clauses agreed upon was one fixing the following rates of pay for boys and youths: Under 16, £1 10s a week; 16 to 17. £2; 17 to 18, £2 10s; 18 to 19, £3. Youths and boys may not be employed in a greater proportion than one to very four men or fraction of the first four. It was agreed that the Court should fix an alternative rate for “long” and “short” shanks.
