CAPITOL
“LOVE’S GREATEST MISTAKE”
A Spanish fiesta is one of the interesting sequences of “The Prairie King,” starring Hoot Gibson, which is now being shown at the Capitol Theatre. Reaves Eason, the director, made the novel and colourful Spanish scenes on one of the largest stages on the Universal lot. It was lavishly decorated in the spirit of a genuine Castilian celebration. Miles of streamers festooned every nook and corner of the huge set and the players were supplied with enough confetti to cover the floor to a depth of several inches. Another new twist, never before seen in a western film drama, is a masked knife duel, in which the contestants, one of whom is Hoot Gibson, are compelled to go through the ticklish business of trying to puncture each other with their freedom of movement restricted by means of a four-foot rope, one end of which was tied to an ankle of each duelist.
“Love’s Greatest Mistake,” featuring Evelyn Brent, will also be screened this evening.
