Results: PIRONGIA HANDICAP HURDLES Of £110; 11 miles. 1 HIGHFLOWN, 9.8 1 2 LADY CENTRA, 9.10 2 6—GOLD RAIN, 10.0 3 Also started.—Kawa, Tinokaha, Gold Rep, Lady Spalpeen, Uralla, Athenry, Ring Potoa, Day Abbey, Star Comet, Lueilus, Toddy. Won by two lengths, three lengths between second and third. Time, 2.44. Highflown Comfortably Highflown and Gold Rain were the early leaders, the order passing the stand being Highflown, Lady Cintra, Gold Rain, Ring Potoa, Athenry, Lady Spalpeen and Uralla. Five furlongs from home Lady Cintra, Highflown, Gold Rain and Ring Potoa were running well clear of the remainder, and Highflown, Lady Cintra, Gold Rain and Ring Potoa being the order into the straight. Highflown went on to score comfortably by a couple of lengths, Lady Cintra being three lengths in front of Gold Rain, Gold Rep was fourth, and then came Ring Potoa, Kawa and Star Comet. KIHIKIHI HANDICAP Of £110; 7 furlongs. 5-MATINEE, 7.0 \ I—AWARERB, 8.6 3 NEW MOON, 7.12 3 Also started. —Flying Juliet, King Smock and The Author. Won by a neck, two lengths between second and third. Time, 1.27. The Favourite Defeated Flying Juliet, New Moon, Awarere and King Smock was the order out of the barrier, but at the five furlongs Awarere held command from Flying Juliet, New Moon, Matinee and Kins Smock. Into the straight Awarere was still bowling along in front from Matinee, New Moon and Flying Juliet. At the half distance Matinee challenged the favourite, and got up to win impressively by a long neck, Ne-v Moon two and a-half lengths back in third place and Tile Author and Flying Juliet together next. WAIPA PLATE Of £110; 6 furlongs. 3 LORD ABBEY, 9.0 .. . 1 I—MICROMETER, 8.10 2 9—HIGH TIDE, 8.4 3 Lord Abbey All the Way Lord Abbey was in front when they settled down, being followed along the back by Takutama, Thanks, Roman Abbey, and High Tide. As the field crossed the top and into the straight. Lord Abbey was still there, being closely followed by Takutama, Micrometer, High Tide, Rangi, Kokiri and Mauriaena. Once straightened up. Micrometer challenged Lord Abbey, the latter winning by a neck; High Tide two lengths . back third, with. Mauriaena, Roman Abbey, Takutama, Thanks and Catclaw next.
