BRIDGING THE MOKAU
BIG WORK COMPLETED OPENED BY MINISTERS Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, To-day. The Mokau Bridge on the main highway between Auckland and New Plymouth was formally opened at noon to-day. Tho ribbon was cut by Mrs. K. S. Williams, the wife of the Minister of Public Works, while the Prime Minister declared the bridge open. In the course of his speech Mr. Coates said the revised estimate of £35,000 had not been exceeded. The bridge, which was 670 feet in length, with a lifting-span at the centre, had cost approximately £34,000, while the expenditure on approaches brought the total cost up to the estimate.
