PROMISING DERBY CANDIDATE

big list of candidates - 1 - still remaining in the 1928 Great Northern Derby reveals a very meagre Auckland representation. One of the local candidates, however, is a promising sort and already at Mangere has shown sufficient qualifications to encourage her owner, Mrs. T. Brady, in the hope of winning the Northern blue riband. This youngster is a handsome, compact daughter of Worthy Bond and Connie, and is endowed with a fine turn of speed. Her progress will be watched with interest and the wish expressed that Trustworthy, as the filly is called, will play a pro* minent part in the next classic. Through the unfortunate passing of Mrs. Sweetapple's bonny and highly-bred filly Warspear, by Man o' War—Joan Spear, Auckland was robbed of a candidate that would have assisted in upholding the honour of the province inf the classic trotting world from allcomers.
