N.Z. FLOWERS FOR LONDON

SOLDIERS’ IDEA “The idea of sending a wreath of New' Zealand flowers to be placed on the cenotaph in London did not originate with the Navy League as may be gathered from your article yesterday.’’ “Tha New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association sent a wreath Of native flora to London early this year and it was placed on the cenotaph on Anzac. Day.” This statement was made to-day by Mr. E. H. Sharp, secretary of the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association. He said that, while not deprecating the thoughtful act of the Navy League he wished to remind the public that returned soldiers were actually the prime movers in having New Zealand flowers sent in ice to London. ’ Doubtless the Navy League is first to send a wreath solely of pohutukawa.” said Mr. Sha.rp. “and that was probablj- the impression intended to be read from the article.”- —— -
