MR. AMERY’S DEPARTURE CONFERENCE WITH CABINET (Special to THE BUS.) WELLINGTON. To-day. There has been almost a general exodus from Wellington. Mr. L. S'. Amerv and party left by special train for the Wairarapa and Hawke's Hay,, Ho will spend the week-end at Hastings, where he will be the guest of General Sir Andrew Russell. He is proceeding to Rotorua on Sunday and on to Auckland on Monday, sailing by the Aorangi tor Canada, where he will spend five weeks completing his Empire tour. It is understood that the Secretary for the Dominions’ discussions with Cabinet during the last two days are likely to be most fruitful, both politically and from the point of view of Empire trade. Mr. Amerv being chairman of the Empire Marketing Board. Representatives of the New Zealand meat, wool and dairy industries met Mr. Amery and members of Cabinet in conference, and a round-table talk should pave the way to the smoothing of many difficulties. Mr. Amery is looking extraordinarily tit after his holiday in the Southern Alps. MINISTERS ABSENT The Prime Minister left Wellington for New Plymouth with the Alin is ter of Public Works, the Hon. K. S. Williams. He will officially open the Mokau Bridge to-morrow. Air. Coat- s will then proceed to Auckland to say farewell to Mr. Amery. Ho will return to Wellington for two days next week and then will be absent at home for nearly a month. The Hon. O. J. Hawken. Minister of Agriculture, has left for Eltham. Other Ministers away include the Hon. W. Nosworthr. in Christchurch, and the Hon. J. A. Young, at Hamilton. The Japanese Consul-General for Australia, M. Iyema.su Tokugawa. and the Vice-Consul, liclii Kishi. have sailed for Sydney. During their visit they had several consultations with Government departments.
