GIRL GUIDES’ CORNER

The Papatoetoe Girl Guides and Brownies journeyed to Manurewa last Saturday, and held a combined picnic and sports programme with the Manurewa Guides. A sack race for Guides was won by Truda Richards (Whispering Tree), who. with her partner. Iva Barton, was also successful in a three-legged race. A benefit dance was held in St. Andrew's Hall. Otahuhu. last Thursday night, the proceeds to be devoted to the sweet stall at the bazaar which takes place in the public hall on December 16 in aid of the Girl Guide and Boy Scout camping funds. The Te Kuiti Company of Guides and Brownies visited the Viaduct Reserve. Waitete. on Saturday, when various games and competitions wove held. Since its inception this company has shown remarkable progress under the capable leadership of the captain. Miss Ivy Graham. The Judean Birthday Party and dedication of colours will take place on February 14. Little New Leaf, of the Kakamai Company, is looking forward to three weeks at Maraetai, to be followed by two weeks at the Guide camp at Papatoetoe, Silver Dove, Crooning Waters, Eyes of the Morning, and Shining Paddle, all trusty Wigwam Braves, will be going also. Little New Leaf states that the breaking-up evening of the company will be held on December 14, and that each patrol will be required to give an item, lasting from five to ten minutes. With Crooning Waters, she has passed the test for the -ambulance badge. W
