Dr. and Mrs. T. Gabbites, of Napier, are staying: at the Central Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. F. Alison, of Waiheke, and Mrs. Eric Lees and the Misses Reeves, of Kawau, are among the guests at the Hotel Cargen. Miss Dale Austin and Mrs. Austin, of Dunedin, are on a visit to Auckland. They are at the Hotel Cargen. Miss Hamlin has returned to Auckland from a visit to Wellington and Hawke's Bay. Mrs. Percy Jackson is a New Plymouth visitor to Auckland. Dr. Grace Stevenson has returned to Arundel from a visit to North Auckland. Miss Leah Mclntyre has returned to Wanganui, after a visit to Auckland, where she was successful in gaining her A.T.C.L. of pianoforte music. Mr. anil Mrs. F. J. Nelson, of Blenheim, are at present in Auckland and are staying at Hotel Mon Desir, Takapuna. Miss V. Watson and Miss M. Watson of Christchurch, and Mrs. S. Flooks, of Remuera, are staying at Hotel Mon Desir, Takapuna. Mrs. Vernon Reed arrived this morning by the Limited from Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Ravel were among the passengers who arrived this morning by the Limited. The Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour and Mrs. Scrimgeour left this morning for Gisborne, where they will spend the Christmas holidays. * * * Miss Betty Archibald, a pupil of the Auckland Girls’ Grammar School, has been awarded a Sinclair Scholarship by the Council of the Auckland University College. This scholarship was founded for the encouragement of the study of biological science. It is of the annual value of £IOO, and is tenable for three years at the Auckland University College.
