“THE MESSIAH”
THURSDAY’S CONCERT With excellent choice evinced in the selection of soloists, and a Especially augmented choir assisted by an orchestral and grand organ accompaniment, the performance of “The Messiah” to be given by the Auckland Choral Society at the Town Hall to-morrow evening should prove a big attraction. Both Miss Naomi Whalley, soprano soloist, and Mr. Ernest McKinley, tenor, have recently sung in a performance of Handel’s oratorio at Wellington,
both gaining splendid Press notices for their work. Great interest will be shown in the appearance of Mr. McKinlay, who will be heard in Auckland for the first time since his return from England. The contralto role has been entrusted to Madame Irene Ainslev, an artist who has achieved considerable success abroad, and the bass role to Mr. Drayton Venable. Mr. Colin Muston will direct the work, and Mr. Maughan Barnett will ; provide the organ accompaniment. - The box plan is now open at the E. land F. Piano Agency.
