WHITTOME STEVENSONS FIRM SHIPPING IN BETTER TONE The market remains quiet, although most of the gilt-edged stocks remain firm. Both bank and insurance shares are in demand, with few sellers appearing. Coal shares are also sought after at recent prices, with few sellers quoting. Shipping stocks are in better tone and prices are well maintained. Timber shares are still weak. Kauris being the only stock supported. Investors are giving more attention • • woollen shares. Mosgiel and Wellington are well supported. Whittome. Stevenson shares sold at which is the highest price these shares have touched. The market closed with buyers 44s 6d. sellers 47s 6d.
