HAURAKI PLAINS CRICKET ASSOCIATION
REP. TEAM SELECTED The Hauraki Plains Cricket Association’s inter-club competition was continued on Saturday last in good weather. At Turua the home team secured a three-point win in an exciting match against the Kaihere team. The visitors batted first, knocking up 51 and then the Turua team made 122 for six wickets and declared. After Kaihere had been dismissed for 83 runs, there remained eight minutes to the time for drawing stumps, and in that short period the Turua team made 19 runs with the loss of one wicket. Good scores were made for Kaihere by H. Dare 62 and 13 and by F. Woodbridge 17, while for Turua the Rev. W. W. Averill made 45 and retired, R. D. Macklow 38 and 14 not out, and H. Owens.. 18. The outstanding bowlers were Lindsay, 5-11 and 5-18, and Jenkins 3-0. Kahere was without its usual bowlers, Which accounted for the big scores put up against the team. Ngatea secured a two-point win from Kopuarahi, securing 87 to the home team’s 59. F. Nicol, of Ngatea, made 24, N. Boyne 10, and J. Martin 16, while the only double-figure score made for Kopuarahi was by E. Gill 13. The bowling of each team was well divided. At Orongo the Waitakaruru team secured a win by an innings and four runs. Orongo secured 38 and 20 and Waitakaruru 62. REP. TEAM SELECTED.
