NOT THE LAST MOVE
SALE OF COMMONWEALTH SHIPS FOREIGN COMPETITION By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 1.7 p.m. LONDON, Monday. A leading shipping authority expresses the opinion that the reported conditions of the sale of the Commonwealth Line, which have not been received officially in London, do not represent the Commonwealth’s last move, and suggests that if British buyers do not tender, which is thought probable, the Commonwealth might delete compulsory British registration, thereby throwing the tenders open to non-British competition, which is the last thing English and Australian shipowners desire.—A. and N.Z.
