An enjoyable Sunday run is to Karekare, on the western coast. The roi;ie lies through Avondale, New Lynn and Glen Eden, leaving the main road by turning to the left after passing through Glen Eden, continuing past Oratia school and crossing a bridge when you climb steadily up to the Nihotupu Post Office. Keep straight ahead, the turn-off goes to Te Waha; continuing, you reach another junction, road to the right leads to Piha, and to the left to Karekare. Distance from the city 25 miles.
