AN AT HOME

FOR BRIDE-ELECT Mrs. W. E. Allen was the hostess yesterday afternoon at a charming function held in the Ellerslie Racing Club’s tearooms in honour of her daughter, Miss Doreen Allen,, whose wedding takes place to-morrow. Gracefully arranged vases of beautiful mauve irises decorated the tables and were prettily grouped with bowls of pastel-tinted sweet peas and fern. Mrs. Allen wore an attractive frock of navy blue georgette, with gold and moonlight-blue embroidery and a smart hat of navy blue with an osprey plume. Miss Doreen Allen chose a frock of spotted navy and white crepe de chine and with it she wore a white hat. Mrs. D. Hunter, a sister of Miss Allen’s, who assisted in receiving the guests, wore a georgette frock of rose du Barri toning, relieved with white embroidery and a leghorn hat trimmed with pale tinted flowers.
