NEW REGENT
“WORLD AT HER FEET” “The. World at Her Feet,'* featuring Florence Vidor and Arnold Kent and now being shown at the New Regent Theatre,, is an adaptation by Doris Anderson of the French stage success, “Lawyer Bolbec and Her Husband.” William Austin, Margaret Quiraby and Richard Tucker head the supporting cast. •In “The World at Her Feet” Miss Vidor plays the part of a woman lawyer who wins tremendous success after a certain period of hardship. She wished to know how a struggling young attorney would react when approached by his first worth-while client, so she manufactured a situation similar to that in her story. A feature of the programme this week is the special presentation which is being given to Moana, the interesting Samoan film. Exquisite harmony lighting effects are being introduced, while Eddie Horton renders a special organ accompaniment to this picture which every New Zealander should unquestionably see. Maurice Guttridge and the Regent Orchestra, besides playing Lortzing’s “Undine,” renders a particularly fine musical programme. Owing to further engagements, Russo and Bradford, the operatic vocalists, who are meeting with such outstanding success at the Regent this week, must terminate their present engagement on Wednesday. There are only two days therefore left to hear their current programme, which includes ‘ The Barcarolle,” from Tales of Hoffmann; “Le Miserere,” from “II Trovatore,” and other items. Their performance receives enthusiastic applause at every appearance. It is some time since Auckland has had the pleasure of listening to such an excellent operatic duo.
