POINT CHEVALIER CLUB
The Point Chevalier Sailing Club is making great headway under the commodoreship of Mr. Allan and an energetic committee, having already held two successful races, the race for the Haliburton Johnson Cup being won by Mistral by 47sec from Sea King, with Magic third. Sea Rover’s chance was spoilt by Belle, through the latter not observing the sailing rules, Sea Rover retiring with a split mainsail. Linnet and Sea Elf were also sailing well and should be seen to advantage in the near future. The next race will be sailed on December 18 at 2 p.m., there being two classes, 14ft and 16ft and over.
The committee desires boat-owners to take particular notice that all races will be started to advertised time.
Fixtures for the season are:—December 18; January 15; January 29; February 19, Regatta; March 3; March 18; March 31; also a series of three races for local 14ft boats only, on the point system, to be held on the evenings of January 23, 24. and 25, for japarra silk mainsail to suit winner, presented by Mr. L. D. Leah, of Albert Street. Post entries are received for all the club’s races. Mr. G. Dunn will give a lecture and demonstration on artificial respiration in the clubhouse this evening. An invitation is extended to all yachtsmen and their friends.
