POWER-BOAT ASSOCIATION’S EVENTS Eliminating trials for the outboard motor-boat to represent Auckland at the Russell Regatta in the Dominion Outboard Championship will be conducted by the New Zealand Power Boat Association on Saturday afternoon in St. Mary’s Bay. The courses were laid out by Captain H. H. Sergeant and the trials will be run in one or more heats of four or fewer boats. After the trials a handicap race will be held for any outboard motor-boat with engine of 20 cubic inches or under (B class motors). All outboard races are open to any boats on this day. In the handicap event an entrance fee of 2s 6d will be charged. Entries for the eliminating trial class will close with the secretary, or Mr. Lees, c/o the Remington Roneo Agency, Fort Street, at 5 p.m., on Friday, Post entries will be received for the handicap race. Entries for the Burt Cup close with the secretary to-mor-row. On January 7 races for speed boats and outboard motors will be held in St. Mary’s Bay boat harbour. The annual picnic and marathon race for outboard craft will be held on February 4 at Mr. Robinson’s estate on the banks of the Whau River, Rosebank Road, Avondale. On February 18 speed boat races and a comprehensive programme to be drawi* up will be held, also on the Whau, on Mr. Robinson’s property. Spectators can reach the course in about 20 minutes from town by motorcar. There is a concrete road right to the course, which is situated in an ideal spot.
