SPEEDSTERS FINED In the Otahuhu Police Court yesterday, before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., speeding motorists were fined as follows: —A. T. Bowlan, 10s and costs 10s; Edmond Callaher, £2 and 10s; R. H. Hampton, £2 and 10s costs; T. IT. Barsten, £2 and 10s; R. D. Patterson, £5 and 10s: G. C. Fletcher, 10s and 11s; S. Preston, £2 and 10s; Michael McCarthy, £2 and 10s; E. Waters, £2 and costs; James F. Dowell, 10s and 10s; W. Crump, £2 and 10s; David Hipkins, £2 and 10s; D. Donaldson, £2 and 10s: A. L. McQuoid, £2 and 10s; and Charles Nathan a similar amount. Fines imposed on pillion riders were: Harry Mayo, 10s and costs 10s: John Nicholls, 30s and 10s: K. O’Brien, 10s and 10s; Hugh Ray. 12s costs; Gilbert Simpson, 10s and 10s. For riding without lights James F. Dowell was fined 10s and 10s costs; Francis Snow. £1 and 10s. P’or not having a properly distinguishable number-plate Donald Chatterton was fined £1 and 10s costs: Peter Collins, costs 10s: and Cyril Hobbs, 30s and 10s costs. For failing'to notify the Defence Department of his change of address. Albert R. Manning was fined £1 and costs; 12s; Harry Wahapu, 30s and costs 12s, for converting a horse to his own use. Arnold Walker had a prohibition order issued against him on the application of his wife. Harold Fleming, charged with using indecent language outside the Panmur*Hotel, was fined £2 and costs £1 2s. R. J. Hastedt appealed against a previous conviction oS £ 5 at the last sitting of the Court, and after a hearing lasting three and a-half hours, in which eleven witnesses were examined at length, the charge of'negligent driving was dismissed.
