WASTE OF WATER
DRASTIC STEPS LIKELY HOSES USED TOO FREELY To-morrow the waterworks committee of the City Council will consider the advisability of drastic steps to conserve water. < It is possible that the committee will take temporary measures partially, or even completely to prohibit the use of garden hoses, it being well known that the by-laws requiring that a hose must only be used when held in the hand are being flouted in spite of warnings. The demand for water yesterday was such that nearly 11,000,000 gallons we.ro used. Cr. J. A. C. Allum said this morning that the extra hour available for games was apparently causing a greater use of showers and baths, while little attention was being paid to the city by-laws referring to watering of gardens. .
