TYPISTS WAIT
CR. MURRAY’S LIST OF
CHARGES
INQUIRY INTO WASTE
Twenty-two minutes after the City Council offices closed to-day Cr. H. W. Murray’s list of charges, • n connection with his allegations of engineering waste, arrived at the Town Hall.
Though the list was first asked for a fcionth ago, and final notice to produce it was given last Tuesday. Cr. Murray found that he could not get the allegations in writing in time to save several members of the town clerk’s staff from having to give up their half-holiday, or a portion of it, this afternoon. No information as to the contents of the odcument is yet available, beyond that it comprises two foolscap sheets, Riving “a number of questions which, in the opinion of Cr. Murray, require investigation.” This has to be copied this afternoon, and circulated to other councillors in preparation for the inquiry, which will be continued on Tuesday afternoon. When the morning had nearly passed away and the document Had not been reported, it was realised that, if it arrived, afternoon work would be required to get it out. The typists held a ballot, and at closing time the fortunate ones, left, the others staying on. There was no outburst of approval when a telephone Message, a quarter of an hour afterward, announced that the document Was due to arrive.
